• Work experience as a custodian, janitor, or cleaning person (Experience might include such things as cleaning restrooms; cleaning resident rooms, offices, or public areas; mopping, scrubbing, dusting, sweeping, and buffing)
• Work experience in an assisted living facility, nursing home, or hospital
• Work experience interacting with patients or residents while cleaning in patient or resident rooms or a dining room setting
• Work experience cleaning bodily fluids and disposing infectious waste into proper storage areas
• Work experience removing snow, trash, and debris from sidewalks and entrance ways
• Work experience using and mixing chemicals or solvents
• Work experience using manual or power equipment to mop, scrub, sweep, strip, wax, and buff floors
• Custodial work experience in one of the following environments: activity or recreation room; bathroom, shower, or bathing room; cafeteria or dining room; entranceway, lobby, or common space; nursing station; patient or resident rooms; pharmacy; physical therapy rooms

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough cleaning of resident rooms, common areas, workspaces, and specialized areas throughout the facility
• Carry out routine cleaning such as mopping, sweeping, polishing, scrubbing, and dusting a wide range of surfaces and fixtures
• Clean and sanitize restrooms and restock supplies including soap, paper towels, and toilet paper
• Empty waste containers, dispose of trash, and process recyclable and infectious waste according to procedures
• Clean, sanitize, rearrange, and organize resident rooms before occupation and help move furniture and equipment
• Report unsafe conditions, assist with snow removal, and use cleaning chemicals and tools according to safety guidelines
