Custodial Worker 1 - Facilities Department
About The Position
Truckee Meadows Community College, located in Reno, NV, is recruiting for a Custodial Worker 1 in the Facilities Department. This position will perform custodial duties using chemicals and equipment, dust, glass cleaning, stainless steel cleaning of the elevator, water fountains, vacuuming, and cleaning of dry erase and chalkboards. This position will mop daily, cleaning spills, floor refinishing, and buffing. This position will make sure that all trash is dumped daily, replace soiled bags in all common areas, and collect and separate recycled materials. This position will lock and alarm all doors as directed by the Supervisor. This position will remove snow and graffiti, special event set-ups, assist students, and any other duties as assigned. PER EXECUTIVE ORDER 2026-001, ALL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN WAIVED FOR THIS POSITION UNTIL JUNE 30, 2026. Please refer to the link for more information: Executive Order 2026-001.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or equivalent education and six months of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR Six (6) months of general work experience and six (6) months of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR Six (6) months of experience as a Custodial Worker Trainee in Nevada State service; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above
- Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
Responsibilities
- Perform custodial duties using chemicals and equipment
- Dust, clean glass, and clean stainless steel of elevators, water fountains
- Vacuum floors and clean dry erase and chalkboards
- Mop daily, clean spills, perform floor refinishing and buffing
- Dump trash daily, replace soiled bags in all common areas, and collect and separate recycled materials
- Lock and alarm all doors as directed by the Supervisor
- Remove snow and graffiti
- Assist with special event set-ups
- Assist students
- Perform any other duties as assigned
