About The Position

Under the supervision of the Custodial Services Coordinator, the janitorial position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment within the Hyland Hills Fitness Center and the Hyland Hills Sports Center. This role is essential in ensuring that all facility areas are hygienic, fully stocked, and operating at the highest standard to support guest satisfaction and health standards.

Requirements

Strong understanding of cleaning best practices in a high-traffic environment.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently during independent work.
Strong communication and professionalism when interacting with members and staff.
Basic understanding of facility safety, sanitation, and infection control.
Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
Ability to identify and respond to facility issues or hazards quickly.
Must be able to stand, walk, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
Frequent bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs regularly.
Exposure to various cleaning chemicals and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Must be 18 years or older.
Reliable transportation required.
Must undergo a thorough criminal background check.

Responsibilities

Maintain the cleanliness of all center areas, including locker rooms, showers, restrooms, and changing areas, workout zones, including strength and cardio equipment, group fitness rooms, floors, mirrors, and windows, and common areas such as the front lobby, hallways, and offices.
Clean and disinfect all high-touch surfaces and equipment.
Refill paper products, soaps, sanitizers, and other supplies as needed throughout the facility.
Sweep, mop, vacuum, and clean floors and carpets daily.
Remove trash and recycling from all areas and dispose of properly.
Conduct regular walkthroughs to identify and report maintenance needs or safety hazards.
Immediately report broken or malfunctioning equipment (e.g., toilets, gym machines, lighting, etc.) to Recreation Coordinator.
Follow all safety procedures for cleaning product use, chemical handling, and protective equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the smooth operation of the fitness center.
Support deep cleaning projects on a weekly/monthly basis (e.g., floor waxing, equipment detailing, etc.).
Respond promptly to emergency clean-ups.
Assist during special events or facility maintenance projects when needed.
Attend all required staff trainings.
