About The Position

This position is responsible for advancing the mission, vision, and values of Mounds Park Academy. The Custodial Supervisor must be present and ready to work as needed to meet responsibilities, demonstrating punctuality and attendance for all work shifts, meetings, and open houses. A key aspect of this role is ensuring the safety of students and being prepared to assist or manage crisis situations. The supervisor will plan and oversee all custodial work, maintaining high standards of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency. This includes performing routine cleaning, assigning work requests, coordinating schedules, and setting up equipment for special events. The role also involves performing repairs to buildings, mechanicals, furniture, and custodial equipment, and assisting the Facilities Manager with planning and coordination. Weekly building inspections, responding to emergency clean-ups and repairs, and assisting with building systems (burglar alarm, fire alarm, energy management) are also part of the duties. The position requires the use of a power lift for tasks up to thirty feet and other duties as assigned. The Custodial Supervisor is expected to be an active, positive, and contributing member of the school community, displaying high integrity and acting as a role model for students. Effective and respectful communication with all members of the MPA community is essential, as is supporting the school's strategic plan and colleagues. Understanding and fulfilling the employee handbook, maintaining appropriate boundaries with students, and performing other duties as requested by the Head of School are also required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Five to ten years of experience in the same or related field
  • Strong troubleshooting and repair skills
  • Self-motivated, willing to learn, and highly organized with a very keen attention to detail.
  • General experience in HVAC, carpentry, electrical, and plumbing
  • A sincere commitment to MPA’s mission and the willingness to be a visible, enthusiastic brand ambassador.

  • Exceptional interpersonal communication and customer service skills that are consistently applied to members of the MPA community

Nice To Haves

  • Two to four-year degree a plus
  • Ten or more years of experience in a school.
  • Class C boiler license and, or HVAC experience

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety of students and be prepared to assist or manage a crisis situation (e.g., fire alarm, building evacuation or lock-down, etc.)
  • Plan and oversee all custodial work, maintaining a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency.
  • Perform routine cleaning of assigned areas.
  • Assign work requests to custodial staff and coordinate vacation schedules.
  • Set up tables, chairs, and other equipment for special events.
  • Perform repairs to buildings, mechanicals, furniture, and custodial equipment.
  • Assist the Facilities Manager with planning and coordination as needed.
  • Perform weekly inspections of the building.
  • Respond to emergency clean-ups and repairs.
  • Assist with the operation of building burglar alarm, fire alarm, and energy management systems.
  • Use a power lift to perform cleaning and repairs at heights of thirty feet.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
