About The Position

These general functions will be carried out in keeping with the Goals, Policies and Mission of the YMCA of the East Bay. Maintain clean and safe areas throughout the facility, including locker rooms, fitness areas, and residence rooms. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the YMCA facility. Duties include cleaning locker rooms, restrooms, fitness areas, and common spaces, restocking supplies and maintaining cleanliness standards, following established cleaning schedules and procedures, assisting with facility upkeep and special cleaning projects, and providing excellent customer service to YMCA members and guests. Because this position includes cleaning and servicing women’s locker rooms and restroom facilities while occupied, applicants must be comfortable and legally eligible to perform duties in those areas.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Reliable weekend availability. Applicants must be available to work Saturdays and Sundays and be able to work shifts scheduled between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
  • Comfortable and legally eligible to perform duties in women's locker rooms and restroom facilities while occupied.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED preferred

Responsibilities

  • Respond to members’ & guests’ requests and questions in a helpful, courteous manner or refer to another staff member.
  • Collect, wash, fold and dispense towels to their required locations.
  • Perform custodial tasks to ensure that locker rooms remain neat and clean, including the collection of discarded towels and trash.
  • Assist in keeping assigned areas clean, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash collection and specific upkeep and organization of the fitness or residence area.
  • Maintain awareness of environment in order to report and respond to suspicious and inappropriate behavior, safety issues and emergency situations.
  • Attend required branch and in-service trainings.
  • Assist other staff when necessary, such as emergency situations and community events.
  • Perform other duties as required.
