About The Position

Wilmington International Airport (ILM) is growing and is opening career opportunities with the addition of a Custodial Manager. ILM is dedicated to providing exceptional airport experiences for our customers, connecting the Cape Fear Region to the global marketplace. The Custodial Manager is responsible for managing the entire custodial staff and daily custodial operations of the Wilmington International Airport. This is a “working manager” role with duties that include supervising staff; managing resources; coordinating contracted work; and enforcing airport rules and regulations. Performs related work as required.

Requirements

  • Some exposure to aircraft noise and fuels, daily contact with chemicals and airport construction.
  • Potential exposure to aircraft and vehicle accidents.
  • Position requires much standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, climbing, pushing, pulling, lifting and walking.
  • Some exposure to inclement weather.
  • Working hours are routinely 40+ hours a week dependent upon scheduled shift.
  • Must be willing to work any shift, weekends and holidays.
  • Due to the nature of responsibilities, may require longer work hours in order to complete assignments.
  • High School diploma or equivalency.
  • Must possess a valid North Carolina Class “C” driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and the ability to maintain insurability by ILM.
  • Experience in custodial and facility maintenance required.
  • Established people leader (3-5 years).
  • Extensive leadership background with the ability to lead teams.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Knowledge of institutional maintenance is required.
  • Good management and supervisory skills.
  • Must be able to react quickly and calmly in emergencies.
  • Must be able to physically perform basic functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree preferred.
  • Airport operations and maintenance is a plus.
  • Some college (Preferred)
