About The Position

The Curriculum Support Aide is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of children in various settings, including transportation, facility, playground, and community outings. This role involves implementing plans for nutrition, program, and transportation experiences, encouraging positive social interactions and healthy eating habits among children. The aide will also perform record-keeping tasks, assist with daily curriculum activities, and support teaching staff. Additionally, the position requires assisting with transitions, safety drills, and reinforcing health and safety measures. The Curriculum Support Aide will work collaboratively with educational staff and assist in the transfer of important paperwork.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of preschool program systems.
  • Provide non-judgmental and compassionate support services to all children and families enrolled within the program.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with the young children and co-workers.
  • Models all appropriate parenting skills for developmental appropriateness of children.
  • Pediatric First Aid and CPR Certification
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Free of Child Abuse/Neglect history as verified by proper authorities.
  • Must obtain Child Abuse, PA State Police, and FBI Fingerprinting Clearances prior to starting employment.
  • Must meet vaccination requirements set by funding sources.
  • Must pass initial and tri-annual physical exam and TB screening.
  • Mandated Child Abuse/Neglect reporter

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year of successful work experience with young children in a professional setting or successful completion of CSA Internship.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures all children are appropriately chaperoned and never left unattended in all situations such as facility, transportation, playground, or community outing.
  • Ensures all children have evacuated the bus, and checks for personal items left on the bus.
  • Develops and implements plans for Nutrition, Program, and Transportation experiences.
  • Encourages conversation and socialization at mealtime.
  • Encourages children to try new foods by positive modeling and tasting all foods at lunch time.
  • Encourages correct use of utensils and good table manners by positive modeling.
  • Attends in-services, workshops, training sessions, and appropriate meetings.
  • Performs record keeping tasks (e.g. meal, snack, bus logs).
  • Meets the bus at or before the first pick-up and rides the bus for entire bus run of designated session making sure all children are wearing nametags for the ride home and have reached their destination.
  • Assists children with daily bus routines including seat belts and safety seat harnessing.
  • Works as part of the program room curriculum team, assisting the teaching staff in daily curriculum activities and observations.
  • Helps children transition safely throughout the program day, counting children before and after each transition.
  • Assists with monthly safety and security drills, such as fire safety on the bus and in the centers.
  • Helps prepare children for arrival and departure.
  • Reinforces health and safety measures.
  • Assists Educational and ISA staff within the program options.
  • Assists in the responsible transfer of paperwork to home and/or program session.
  • Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.
