About The Position

The Curriculum Specialist, Nursing Graduate Program position supports the College of Nursing Graduate Program Curriculum Development. In this role, the specialist will work with various stakeholders including the Associate Dean Research and Graduate Studies, the Graduate Chair, the Nurse Practitioner Program Academic Lead, the Graduate Programs Team, the Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Committee, and the College of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. The primary focus is on developing and refining graduate curriculum, ensuring adherence to deadlines, supporting course reviews and new course development, and contributing to the Indigenization of graduate programs.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree, preferably a Master of Health Professions Education or a Master of Education or a Master in Nursing with a curriculum development specialty.
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a related field, preferably in a health profession.
  • Experience working closely with development teams creating new projects/curriculum development is essential to this role.
  • Building and maintaining positive working relationships with faculty, staff, graduate students, and other stakeholders is foundational to the success of this project and integral to this role.
  • Ability to encourage collaboration, listen, hear, and be responsive to feedback and integrate suggestions thoughtfully
  • Recognize the needs of different collaborative teams and respond accordingly with tact and diplomacy
  • Highly flexible and able to learn quickly in the moment

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of graduate nursing education represents an asset.
  • If the incumbent is a Registered Nurse, a current registration with the CRNS is required

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Associate Dean Research and Graduate Studies, the Graduate Chair, the Nurse Practitioner Program Academic Lead, and the members of the Graduate Programs Team, and the Graduate Curriculum Review Workgroup
  • Support the development of graduate curriculum philosophical framework, monitor College of Graduate Studies and University Council deadlines, support reviews of existing graduate courses, support new courses development, and delivery timetables
  • Support the Indigenization of the graduate programs
  • Work closely with members of the College of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies and the Gwenna Moss Centre for Teaching and Learning Excellence
  • Keep detailed records on the revised graduate curriculum, the revisions and updating of existing graduate courses, and the development of new graduate courses
  • In conjunction with the Associate Dean Research and Graduate Studies develop agenda items and actively participate in meetings with the Graduate Programs Team, the Graduate Review Team, and the members of the Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Committee
  • Provide follow-up documentation post-meetings
  • Provide support to graduate faculty members in revising or developing new graduate courses
