About The Position

This is a temporary, grant-funded position for 16 weeks, focused on providing direct, front-line support to individuals with disabilities participating in Sherwood Park Day Services and Employment programs. The role involves developing, adapting, and implementing curriculum-based activities that support life skills, pre-employment skills, social development, and community inclusion. The Curriculum Developer & Class Lead will plan, lead, and facilitate structured classes and group activities for participants, both on-site and in the community. The position requires supporting individuals to engage in meaningful daily programming aligned with their goals, interests, and abilities, promoting independence, dignity, and inclusion using a person-centered approach. Additionally, the role includes assisting individuals in building skills related to employment readiness, communication, and daily living, ensuring a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment, and completing basic documentation and reporting.

Requirements

  • Between 18 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Genuine interest in supporting individuals with disabilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, front line environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Professional, patient, and respectful approach
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Some education or experience in Disability Studies, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field is an asset
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities is an asset
  • Demonstrate willingness to learn new concepts; be flexible and to work as an effective team player
  • Exhibit attributes of a positive attitude, including a willingness to receive and provide feedback.
  • Strong computer, organization, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, front-line support to individuals with disabilities participating in Sherwood Park Day Services and Employment programs
  • Develop, adapt, and implement curriculum based activities that support life skills, pre employment skills, social development, and community inclusion
  • Plan, lead, and facilitate structured classes and group activities for participants, both on site and in the community
  • Support individuals to engage in meaningful daily programming that aligns with individual goals, interests, and abilities
  • Promote independence, dignity, and inclusion using a person centred approach
  • Assist individuals in building skills related to employment readiness, communication, and daily living
  • Ensure a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment during all classes and activities
  • Follow individual support plans, organizational policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
  • Communicate effectively with the Manager, Sherwood Park Day Services & Employment, and other team members regarding program delivery and participant progress
  • Complete basic documentation and reporting related to programming and participant participation
  • Maintain a professional, positive, and collaborative presence
