About The Position

The role of the Curriculum At-Risk, Specialist is to assist in providing guidance, coordination, and improvement of school instructional programs, utilizing available expertise and guidance necessary for a well-rounded academic program to improve academic achievement on state-mandated assessments in a manner consistent with Board Policy and with statutes of regulatory agencies. In addition, the Curriculum At-Risk, Specialist will assist campus administrators, deans, support coaches, counselors, teachers, and the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in providing a quality and meaningful instructional program, implementing a research-based framework based on the Three Tired Intervention Model for At-Risk students by providing targeted and ongoing evidence-based professional development. The Curriculum At-Risk, Specialist also serves as a district resource in the alignment of instructional programs and the implementation of district initiatives.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree
  • Texas Supervisor, Mid-Management, or Principal Certificate
  • Valid Texas Teacher Certificate
  • Highly qualified status in the foundation curriculum subject area, if applicable
  • Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience
  • Bilingual English/Spanish

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Curriculum planning, testing and evaluation
  • Experience as a Lead Teacher, Department Chairperson, or Curriculum Developer
  • Strong knowledge base of TEKS
