The Institute for Contemporary Art (ICA) at VCU seeks a Curatorial Research Intern for the 2026–27 academic year. This paid, nine-month internship runs from October 2026 through June 2027 and requires 10–20 hours per week at $17 per hour. The intern works closely with ICA curators on research, exhibition development, and publication projects. Candidates must be current graduate students or recent graduates. Graduate students pursuing an MFA who have been assigned an assistantship are ineligible to hold secondary employment at VCU. The position offers experience in curatorial research, exhibition planning, and production; exposure to contemporary artists and socially engaged artistic practices; and insight into the work of a contemporary art institution and its engagement with wide audiences. The role is fully onsite at the ICA, designed by Steven Holl Architects and located at the corner of Broad and Belvidere in Richmond. The ICA presents contemporary art and provides an open forum for dialogue and collaboration across the region and worldwide, with free admission.
