About The Position

The Culture & Engagement Intern supports initiatives that connect workplace culture with community engagement, helping to foster an inclusive, welcoming environment for both museum staff and the public. This role bridges internal culture-building efforts with outward-facing programming, ensuring that the museum’s values are reflected in how it engages employees, visitors, and communities. Through hands-on experience with public programming, heritage month celebrations, and cross-departmental collaboration, the intern will also gain exposure to the various departments that support natural history museums.

Requirements

  • Rising junior or senior undergraduate student in Museum Studies, Anthropology, Sociology, Education, Public Administration, Communications, or a related field
  • Interest in both community engagement and workplace culture or organizational development
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences
  • Organized, adaptable, and able to manage multiple responsibilities
  • Demonstrated interest in workplace inclusion and community engagement

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with event planning, facilitation, or community outreach
  • Interest in cultural heritage, natural history, or public humanities
  • Familiarity with public-facing roles or team-based projects

Responsibilities

  • Support community facing events by engaging visitors in conversations that reflect the museum’s commitment to inclusion, curiosity, and shared learning
  • Assist in planning and implementing Cultural Heritage Month programs that connect staff experiences with community perspectives
  • Support internal culture and engagement initiatives that promote employee well-being, inclusion, and belonging
  • Assist with planning and coordination of workforce engagement events tied to heritage months and awareness celebrations
  • Assist with scheduling, logistics, and coordination for Culture & Engagement programs and events
  • Conduct research to support educational programming, workshops, and engagement strategies
  • Support internal communications, including drafting emails, presentations, and engagement materials
  • Help organize meetings and collaborate with departments across the museum
