About The Position

Serve as an educator, patient advocate, and connection to support services for families experiencing language and cultural barriers. Cultural Navigators are bilingual and bicultural individuals who work in close partnership with the care team to improve hospital access, quality of care, care coordination, and experience for patients and families at Seattle Children's. Their primary function is to bridge the cultural and literacy gap between the health care system and the family by helping families build the skills necessary to navigate the health care system independently.

Requirements

  • Bilingual in English and a target language, including but not limited to: Spanish, Amharic, Somali, Arabic, and Vietnamese.
  • Within 90 days of hire, employee must pass a language validation test.
  • Current Washington State driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Services or health-related field.
  • Certified Medical Interpreter in target language.
  • Experience providing direct services to target language speaking families.
  • Experience in community outreach and collaboration.
