About The Position

The Cultural Arts Instructor is responsible for the instruction of pupils registered for class. This role involves developing all lesson plans and activities for specific class topics. The instructor must maintain a safe learning environment, supervise participants at all times, and communicate effectively with parents. This is a seasonal position with a salary range of $15.00 - $20.00 per hour.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Experience/knowledge in materials presented in class.
  • Criminal background clearance.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Present oneself as a positive role model.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patrons and parents.
  • Maintain current CPR and Standard First Aid certifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous teaching experience is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Develop all lesson plans and activities for class.
  • Supervise arrival and dismissal of participants.
  • Supervise participants at all times and maintain a safe learning environment.
  • Give instruction in assigned topic.
  • Communicate with parents of the participants.
  • Arrive 15 minutes before class to set up and stay until all participants are picked up.
  • Administer First Aid according to the Park District’s Communicable Disease Policy.
  • Understand and follow the Park District’s safety procedures and requirements, including accident reports, emergency safety procedures, reporting of hazardous equipment, facilities, or conditions, and reporting all incidents and potential hazards to the safety committee.
  • Attend in-service trainings and meetings as directed by Supervisor.
  • Assist all employees of the Park District as needed.
