About The Position

Great Performances is seeking a hands-on, highly organized Culinary Packing Manager to lead and manage a team of packers in a fast-paced culinary production environment. The ideal candidate is a strong people leader with a sharp attention to detail, a passion for quality and food safety, and the ability to oversee logistics and outbound operations seamlessly. This individual will ensure that packers are trained, supported, and held accountable while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with kitchen and event needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of management experience, preferably in kitchen or food service operations.
  • Valid Food Handler’s License issued by the NYC Department of Health.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and manage teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures: Freezer environments below -10°F, Refrigerated areas between 32–40°F.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods (6–10+ hours per shift).
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Must be able to provide valid documentation that you are legally eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Direct, coordinate, and manage all aspects of daily outbound order operations.
  • Supervise and actively manage a team of packers, ensuring productivity, accountability, and adherence to standards.
  • Ensure all orders are organized, accurate, and prepared in accordance with kitchen instructions and event requirements.
  • Oversee pallet movement, truck unloading, and overall outbound logistics flow.
  • Lead, coach, and develop packers and support staff to ensure high performance and engagement.
  • Provide clear direction, training, and ongoing feedback to the packing team.
  • Manage daily staff schedules based on business needs and departmental staffing models.
  • Address and resolve team and operational issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain high standards for accuracy, presentation, and organization of all packed items.
  • Ensure strict compliance with food safety standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Monitor and enforce quality control measures across all packing processes.
  • Ensure safe handling and proper use of all equipment and machinery.
  • Report any maintenance or safety issues immediately.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment at all times.
