About The Position

American Cruise Lines, the largest cruise line in the United States, is seeking a Culinary Operations Specialist to join our dynamic training team in Salt Lake City, UT. As the Culinary Operations Specialist, you are connected to our mission to Share America’s Story on the Finest American Ships, specifically through the culinary experience each of our guests enjoy on board. You are an efficient professional, with an expert grasp on English spelling, grammar, and computer literacy. You are the primary person responsible for ensuring all the menus for each cruise reflect the correct ports each ship visits that week, and that each is created from the Regional Executive Chef’s matrix of menus. You coordinate with the Regional Executive Chefs, Hotel Operations Managers, training facility, development team, and shipboard teams to ensure all necessary parties are informed of any actual or proposed changes. Requirements

  • Professional written and verbal English literacy.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Core understanding of company’s interdepartmental communication needs.
  • Ability to self-motivate.
  • Can adapt with short-notice.
  • Flexible to demands of the business.
  • Optimistic with a drive to succeed and motivate others.

Nice To Haves

  • Culinary experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an updated menu database in the Navigator system.
  • Maintain standardized recipe formatting, reviewing for spelling and grammar.
  • Accurately input all dishes into American Explorer, ensuring that matrices and menus are error free.
  • Tie the correct matrix to each individual cruise departure.
  • Review sailing instructions prior to each cruise, adjusting matrix days as needed for different variations of each itinerary.
  • Provide support to the Corporate Executive Chef & Regional Executive Chefs by tracking & organizing all updates they submit and confirming when completed within 24 hours.
  • Collaborate with the operations management teams when discrepancies are found.
  • Provide remote support to fleet.
  • Other duties as assigned.
