About The Position

Great Performances is a leading catering, events, and hospitality company in the greater New York area, known for its innovative menus, impeccable service, and commitment to sustainability. Serving New York City for over four decades, the company provides food services in various cultural institutions and offers full-service catering, corporate workplace dining, and large-scale event production. Great Performances is also the first caterer in the nation to own and operate an organic farm. The company is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Culinary Operations Manager to oversee and optimize their catering software. This role involves leading a small team to ensure accurate menu quantification using historical event data, maintaining the integrity of the catering database (including allergen information, menu item names, and quantification amounts), and collaborating with culinary and operations teams. This is a salaried position requiring a minimum of 50 hours weekly, with potential weekend hours during peak seasons.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in catering, food service management, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with catering software or similar data management systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with experience managing small teams.
  • Proficiency in data entry, analysis, and report generation.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends during peak seasons.
  • Ability to work with a large team of sales operations coordinators and accommodate requests as needed.
  • Must be able to provide valid documentation that you are legally eligible to work in the United States.

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, business, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of 2-3 members, providing guidance and support in menu quantification and data management.
  • Oversee the accurate quantification of catering menus by analyzing data from past events to ensure optimal food preparation and minimize waste.
  • Maintain and update the catering software database, including editing and verifying allergen information, standardizing and refining menu item names, and adjusting quantification amounts for dishes based on historical data and feedback.
  • Collaborate with culinary and operations teams to align with event requirements.
  • Generate reports and insights from catering software to support operational decision-making.
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency across the catering software platform.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software-related issues in collaboration with IT support as needed.
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices for catering quantification and database management.
  • Support additional responsibilities and projects as required during high-volume periods.
