About The Position

Assists in the Culinary Arts program in the delivery of quality food services for internal and external customers. Responsible for operating a short-order food line, setup, cleanup, maintaining a clean, well-functioning and safe kitchen and food service environment. Exemplifies and provides a professional customer service. Works cooperatively with the Café Manager to ensure a quality Food Service Program. Assists in preparation and cooking of designated menus. Works independently to operate a short-order line during breakfast and lunch hours. Preparing, cooking, and serving food to customers. Maintains serving areas in clean and well-stocked manner. Monitors condition of equipment, cleanliness and order of storage areas, refrigerators, freezers, and other equipment. Maintains kitchen and seating area in clean, sanitary, and orderly condition. Ensures all dishwashing and kitchen clean-up are completed thoroughly and consistently each shift working with student dishwashers when available. Works with students to ensure food quality and service standards are met. May assist with cashier responsibilities as needed. Works cooperatively within the college Community. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year of experience in the food industry (for Line Cook I)
  • Three (3) years of experience in the food service industry (for Line Cook II)
  • A combination of work experience and training may be used to fill experience requirements
  • Must have a current Davis County food handlers permit
  • Good communications skills
  • Ability to organize and follow through
  • Working knowledge of food safety, sanitation, portion control, production planning, and inventory rotation (for Line Cook II)
  • Strong communication, organization, and follow-through skills (for Line Cook II)
  • Ability to provide clear task direction and practical guidance to employees without exercising formal supervision (for Line Cook II)
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, exercise sound judgment within established procedures, and work independently and cooperatively in a team environment (for Line Cook II)
