The Culinary Director supervises all aspects of food service for the community, including hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating staff. This role is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen, dining, and storage areas, and ensuring equipment is clean and in good working order. The Culinary Director must develop and maintain a working knowledge of all policies and procedures pertaining to the position, the department, and personnel, as well as current and updated health laws and regulations. This position directs and assists in the preparation and serving of meals to residents, associates, and guests, and is responsible for developing monthly menus suitable to the dietary needs of the residents, ensuring compliance with sanitation procedures and standards. The Culinary Director also manages inventory, orders food and supplies, stays within budget, and oversees a preventative maintenance program for dining services equipment. A key aspect of this role involves interacting with residents, understanding their specific dietary needs, and providing excellent customer service. The Culinary Director also conducts monthly food committee meetings and assists with marketing functions through dining services planning.
