About The Position

The Culinary Assistant is responsible for assisting in various food service provisions to patients, staff, and visitors of all ages. Duties may vary depending on time of shift and workday. The Culinary Assistant assists with assembly and delivery of patient trays, serves as a line worker or cashier in Remedies Cafe serving line, and dishwashing, pot and pan washing duties. Performs some food preparation procedures including baking, salad, and dessert preparation. The Culinary Assistant will also perform basic diet office procedures and use the computer terminal. New employees may be assigned to the Culinary Assistant portion of their training. The Culinary Assistant must abide by written dress code as described in hospital and departmental policies. The Culinary Assistant must maintain patient confidentiality as described in established policy. The Culinary Assistant must follow policies and procedures for patient care as established by Wabash General Hospital and should report any damages or mechanical problems to the Nutrition Services Manager or designee as soon as a problem is experienced.
