About The Position

The Culinary Arts Center Coordinator and Manager oversees all daily operations, programming, and fiscal management of the Caroline Culinary Center. This role integrates school nutrition programs, career and technology education, and community outreach. The Manager serves as a key liaison to enhance student learning and lead regional food security initiatives.

Requirements

  • Proven track record in culinary management, commercial kitchen operations, or hospitality leadership.
  • College degree or Culinary Arts degree preferred
  • Current ServSafe Manager certification required (or ability to obtain immediately).
  • Exceptional collaborative skills to work effectively with students, educators, community partners, and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Spaces: Staff management for the retail storefront, "living classroom," catering services, and community kitchen incubator.
  • School Nutrition Support: Direct the commissary kitchen operations specifically supporting Caroline County Public Schools (CCPS) Food Services.
  • Maintenance & Safety: Ensure absolute cleanliness, regulatory safety compliance, and routine maintenance of the culinary center, equipment, and grounds.
  • General Duties: Perform all other operational duties as assigned within the CCPS Food Services program.
  • Safety and Sanitation: obtain train the trainer certification to conduct servsafe and safe food handling classes for staff and community.
  • Management: Directly supervisor full time and part time staff of the culinary arts center
  • CCTC Liaison: Partner directly with the Career and Technology Education (CCTC) Culinary Arts instructor to build hands-on learning opportunities for students.
  • Public Programming: Coordinate, schedule, and manage culinary classes for the public and community events.
  • Outreach & Advocacy: Actively engage with the local movement for food resiliency in the region to drive regional food access, distribution, and community outreach initiatives.
  • Fiscal Responsibility: Manage the center's budget, track retail/catering revenue, and optimize operational expenditures.
  • Professional Growth: Attend industry conferences and professional meetings to advance self-development and bring innovative practices back to the center.
