About The Position

The role of the Corrosion under Insulation (CUI) GMT/Scaffold Technician is to provide manual labor assistance in support of Corrosion under Insulation initiatives, serving both internal and external client requirements. This position works in close collaboration with the CUI Specialist, ensuring efficient coordination and effective execution of tasks related to scaffolding and general maintenance.

Requirements

  • Completion of NSTC (North Slope Training Cooperative) training.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in erecting and dismantling "Systems Scaffold."
  • Proficiency in hand and power tools, with a minimum of 2 years of practical knowledge and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in a physically demanding job.
  • Current Asbestos Abatement Certification through the State of Alaska.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills that include active listening, clear direction, and effective feedback.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in spoken and written English.
  • Capability to perform job functions while wearing a respirator (half and full face).

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year of experience in CUI in the oil and gas industry.

Responsibilities

  • Performing asbestos abatement on process piping in compliance with regulations.
  • Erecting and dismantling non-engineered Systems Scaffold.
  • Constructing crib stacks (2x2, 3x3, 4x4, crow's foot) based on the Lift Form, serving as temporary support structures for line lifting and rest points.
  • Assisting the CUI Specialist with Line Lifts using Airbags, Lift Jacks, Rigging, Cranes, following the guidelines outlined in the Engineered Lift Form.
  • Holding an Operator Qualification (OQ) certification, if required for the area and position, to carry out Line Lifts, insulation removal/installation, and coating installation on DOT-regulated process piping.
  • Building knowledge and competency in operating standard shop equipment and acquiring skills in sheet metal and insulation fabrication, including but not limited to T's, unequal T's, miters, gores, reducers, end caps, flange cans, mailbox, wall flashing, and more.
  • Promoting and actively participating in Safety Programs as well as engaging in Task Risk Assessments (TRA's) to ensure a safe work environment.
