About The Position

Under the direction of CTE Director and supervision of the principal or designee, this (Career and Technical Education) teaching position will plan instruction, teach, motivate, inspire, and assess students in Ground School Education. This teaching position will promote a high-quality education program that reflects state standards.

Requirements

  • Strongly preferred to hold an Athletic Training degree, be BOC, BLS certified, and eligible for Washington State licensure in Athletic Training.
  • Must be a member of Washington Career and Technical Sports Medicine Association (WCTSMA).
  • Must be willing to obtain Washington State CTE certification through OSPI no later than the first contracted day with appropriate endorsements as required by law and regulations.
  • Required to have a current First Aid/CPR/AED card and training for HIV/AIDS procedures.
  • Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance.
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license or evidence of mobility.
  • Proof of Immunization (if born 1/1/57 or later).
  • I-9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act.
  • Completion of all district-required training within thirty (30) calendar days from hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for educating students on injury prevention, anatomy, and physiology components, diagnosing physical injuries, formulating, treatment plans, and making return to play decisions.
  • Educate students by planning, developing, and delivering a course of study according to the student’s learning objectives, district curriculum guidelines, and student assessment.
  • Build connections with students, staff, and related businesses in the community.
  • Teach leadership and employability skills to students.
  • Expose students to careers related to sports medicine.
  • Complete paperwork reporting systems efficiently and on time.
  • Implement adopted career and technical education programs and provide for individual learning needs of students.
  • Assist in the evaluation of career and technical education programs and the selection and evaluation of instructional equipment and materials.
  • Develop lesson plans and teaching outlines using the district’s adopted curriculum and instructional program guidelines.
  • Maintain an ongoing professional development plan with the Career and Technical Education Director.
  • Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.
  • Teach using various methodologies, including lectures, demonstrations, and discussions.
  • Perform curriculum and instructional development activities.
  • Utilize an inquiry-based hands on approach in your classroom.
  • Teach effective communication skills.
  • Be responsible for constructive classroom management and environment.
  • Meet course and school wide student performance goals.
  • Create a positive educational climate for students to learn.
  • Provide social and academic guidance for students under his/her direction.
  • Promote the district’s educational goals through parent conferences and related activities.
  • Counsel, confer, and communicate with parents and school district personnel regarding student progress.
  • Observe and evaluate students’ performance.
  • Maintain appropriate student records.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures.
  • Will participate in professional learning communities using data to close achievement gaps.
  • Maintain and promote personal professional growth through appropriate coursework, workshops, reading of professional materials, etc.
  • Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • The employee shall maintain a consistent presence at the assigned work site(s) and work the regular work hours specified by the contract.
  • Professionally interact with colleagues, members of the public, and students.
  • Comply with and uphold all district policies and all applicable laws.
  • Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
