Bitterroot Health is offering a free, intensive, accelerated summer CNA training program exclusively for high school students pursuing healthcare careers. The program runs June 28, 2027, through August 6, 2027. Class meets Monday through Friday according to the student's assigned Clinical and Simulation group; students attend either Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday. Exact dates and times are provided in the program calendar. The course includes daily homework, memorization, and skills practice. Attendance is critical, and students may miss no more than one classroom absence and one clinical day. Acceptance is not guaranteed because space is limited. The program is unpaid, but students must pay a $110 state testing fee for CNA certification. The program is approved by the State of Montana and participating school districts. Students can earn CNA certification upon passing state testing, a certificate of completion, CTE high school credit if still enrolled in high school, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Training is hands-on and includes practicing real CNA duties with real patients, including anatomy, bathing and toileting assistance for patients of all ages, Foley catheter care, and direct patient care. Students under 18 should discuss the program's clinical components with a parent or guardian before applying. Applications are due January 31, 2027. Applicants will be notified of acceptance or denial by email on or before March 31, 2027.
