About The Position

The classroom Career and Technical Education (CTE) teacher, under the direction of the Building Principal and Director of College and Career Readiness, will create a program and class environment favorable to the learning and personal growth of students which facilitates student success in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district-approved curriculum aligned with the state frameworks for the CTE program area; motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation in life and establish good relationships and rapport with students, parents, and staff members. The teacher will document student progress, activities, and outcomes; address specific educational needs of students; and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals. The teacher will maintain professional competence through in-service education, coursework, and professional growth activities to maintain and update appropriate CTE certification.

Requirements

  • Valid teaching certificate for the State of Washington with required endorsement in the area of assignment or equivalent experience in the CTE area in which instruction will occur.
  • Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint clearance
  • I-9 employment eligibility in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act
  • HIV/HBV training (obtain within 60 days of hire date – District provided)
  • Human Resources new hire training (obtain within 60 days of hire date – District provided)
  • Must currently hold or obtain within the first 6 months of employment a CPR/AED and First Aid certification
  • Must maintain as current any certification or license listed herein and held at hire date and complete any continuing education/training that is required to be effective in the position and to maintain certification
  • Knowledge: Principles, goals, and objectives of public education
  • Knowledge: Curriculum and other developmental programs related to the specific CTE program area
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to effectively integrate technology resources in daily lessons and use multiple communication systems
  • Demonstrated proficiency with required industry and state learning requirements
  • Ability to organize and implement safe and successful laboratory activities including independent student projects.
  • Knowledge and experience with technologies appropriate to the field.
  • Thorough knowledge of technology and classroom use of electronic devices with the ability to manage and inventory equipment.
  • Abide by all district policies and procedures along with building/department practices
  • Adhere to federal and state laws and district regulations, policies, procedures, and practices
  • Mandatory reporter for incidents of child abuse, harassment, intimidation, bullying, fights, substance abuse etc.
  • Abides by employment provisions provided for in the collective bargaining agreement
  • Observe strict confidentiality regarding student information
  • Maintain regular punctual attendance

  • Serve as Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) advisor
  • Articulate and implement National and Washington State learning standards within the program
  • Update curriculum frameworks as necessary
  • Attend CTE meetings outside school hours
  • Participate in quarterly Program-Specific Advisory Committee meetings outside of school hours
  • Fulfill Career and Technical Education leadership and advisory council expectations
  • Complete articulation agreements and grading to support students in earning dual credit
