About The Position

Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals Round Rock is a long-term acute care hospital specializing in treatment for patients recovering from post-intensive care and medically complex conditions. It provides LTACH, inpatient rehabilitation, and outpatient wound care, with intensive care and telemetry services. The hospital also has a 12-bed acute rehabilitation unit and an outpatient wound-care service with a Hyperbaric oxygen suite. The CT/Xray Radiologic Technologist administers ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes and performs radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures. The technologist acquires and analyzes data for interpretation by a licensed practitioner, and prepares, administers, and documents contrast medications and radiation exposure in accordance with applicable state laws, regulations, and company policy. This role is designated PRN Weekend.

Requirements

Graduate from an accredited institution in medical radiography.
ARRT registration.
Current BLS certification.
State certifications or licensure as required in the state of employment.
Must read, write, and speak fluent English.
Must have good and regular attendance.

Nice To Haves

One year of experience in diagnostic imaging preferred.

Responsibilities

Receive, relay, and document verbal, facsimile, electronic, and telephone orders in the patient’s chart as permitted by state and company policies.
Educate patients and prepare them for procedures.
Select appropriate protocols and optimize technical factors while maximizing patient safety.
Apply ALARA principles and the radiation-safety principles of time, distance, and shielding to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
Observe the patient and machine during procedures and report unexpected outcomes.
Clean and disinfect the x-ray room and equipment in accordance with infection-control policy.
Evaluate images for proper positioning and determine whether additional images may improve the procedure or treatment outcome.
Evaluate images for technical quality and ensure proper identification is recorded.
Corroborate the patient’s clinical history with the procedure and ensure relevant information is documented and available to a licensed practitioner.
Postprocess images and data and verify archival storage of exam data.
Assist in maintaining medical records while respecting confidentiality and established policy.
Identify and respond to emergency situations.
Follow processes for managing equipment and the physical environment to ensure a safe working environment.
Communicate issues, concerns, and opportunities for improvement routinely to the immediate supervisor.
Work cooperatively with coworkers in all hospital departments.
Apply patient-safety principles during all aspects of care and provide optimal patient care.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
