About The Position

Performs a variety of CT and Diagnostic Radiology procedures utilizing ionizing radiation for diagnosis of disease processes and delineation of both normal/abnormal anatomy as well as pathological conditions in areas of the human body.

Requirements

Completion of an accredited Radiological program
Registered by the American Registry of Radiographic Technology (ARRT).
1 year general Radiology experience.
Ability to work flexible hours-alternate shift, rotates on call for evening, weekend and holiday coverage.
Able to adapt to new programs and equipment upgrades as radiological field advances, effective organizational and time management skills, effective written and verbal communication skills.
Utilizes hospital resources and time respectfully and accountably.
HIPAA Compliance: Maintains strict patient confidentiality at all times.

Nice To Haves

Certification in Computerized Tomography Preferred
3-5 years of general Radiology with 1 year CT experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Operate CT, X-ray and auxiliary equipment to produce quality images.
Follows proper shutdown procedures for scanning and processing equipment.
Cleans equipment without damaging it.
Keeps assigned area clean and organized.
Follows Quality Control guidelines, State and Federal regulations and department policies/procedures.
Creates and Imports CDs.
Notifies the department and/or PACS manager of any errors or outstanding problems with completing patient data.
Completion of Safety Reports.
Basic scheduling in Community Wide Scheduling (CWS).
Assists nurse in preparation of contrast media (CT only), removal of IV catheters (CT only), and all specialised procedures.
Floats to both modalities as needed (Radiological/CT).
Operation of multiple radiographic units: Portable, C-arm, Fluoroscopy, Digital Radiography (DR), and Computed Radiography (CR).
Demonstrates Radiation and MRI Safety and Protection techniques to minimize hazards, including: ALARA, Dosimetry, Shielding, Collimation, and Magnetic field.
Performs correct exam on correct patient: Utilize two patient identifiers: name and date of birth (Using the Meditech requisition and the patient’s ID band along with active communication with family), Verify the Meditech order with the physician's order (Initial physician’s order confirming verification.).
Follows the PACS and Meditech workflow: Reviews, approves and enters information in a timely and accurate manner after each patient. Including: (Patient Tracking Data (exam start/end times), Technologist's notes and name, Correct patient history, Verifies orders, patient name, exam accession number, etc., Approves studies, Technologist's name on exams), QA resolution, Moving exams, and Notifies the department and/or PACS manager of any errors or outstanding problems with completing patient data.
Consults with the radiologist on duty to assure correct scanning parameters when necessary (Trauma, Difficult and/or infrequent studies, Correct patient history).
