About The Position

Under the direction of the Radiologist and the CT Supervisor, the CT Technologist performs CT procedures in accordance with department protocols at a technical level. This position requires the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and perform a variety of technical procedures, including interventional cases, CT Angiography, and advanced 3D reconstruction. The role requires independent judgment and initiative to apply ionizing radiation in compliance with the ALARA principle for CT diagnosis.

Requirements

  • Current ARRT certification is required.
  • NH Imaging License is required.
  • BLS Certification is required.
  • Previous CT Scan experience is required.
  • Proficiency with CT Scan software, preferably GE and Siemens.
  • Experience with PACS software, particularly McKesson Change Healthcare.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record, specifically Epic.
  • Capability in patient preparation, positioning, and scan acquisition according to protocol.
  • Ability to identify anatomy, pathology, and contrast enhancement on cross-sectional imaging.
  • Competency in obtaining symptom and relevant patient history to ensure medical necessity.
  • Knowledge of methods to routinely reduce radiation exposure to patients and staff.
  • Understanding of daily QA and warm-up procedures for CT Scan equipment.
  • Aptitude for troubleshooting CT Scan equipment and contacting service as needed.
  • Practice the ALARA principle at all times.
  • Must be able to perform all essential functions of this position with reasonable accommodation if disabled.

Responsibilities

  • Support and promote the mission and values of the organization.
  • Acquire scans according to radiologist and department protocol.
  • Inform patients about their exams and provide clear instructions to ensure cooperation.
  • Assist the radiologist during interventional procedures.
  • Coordinate daily workload by scheduling inpatients and prioritizing emergency department patients based on the outpatient schedule.
  • Review IV Contrast Questionnaire with patients receiving IV contrast.
  • Complete documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Review exams in PACS for completeness prior to submission to the radiologist.
  • Ensure the safety of all patients.
  • Maintain flexibility to assist with round-the-clock coverage of the department.
  • Arrive on time for all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Be prepared to work until the end of the shift.
  • Complete mandatory learning, competencies, and CEUs as required.
  • Adhere to dress code policies.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance.
  • Assist in cleaning, stocking of supplies, and laundry to maintain a professional workspace.
  • Perform other duties as consistent with this role.
