About The Position

This position is responsible for developing the knowledge to perform quality CT exams in a safe and timely manner while providing excellent patient care. The role involves verifying exams as ordered by a physician, developing the knowledge to perform correct scan protocols to decrease radiation exposure, and adhering to radiation safety recommendations. The technologist will also develop knowledge to properly administer IV and oral contrast, explain exams/procedures to patients and families, and ensure the work area is properly maintained. Additionally, the role includes developing knowledge of current or new technologies in CT, maintaining equipment, complying with regulatory laws, and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college program or technical school or nursing diploma
  • Direct - No experience required
  • One of the following certifications must be obtained in one year: ARRT-(R)(N)(CT) - American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT), Radiologic Technologist License - Arkansas Department of Health

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university

Responsibilities

  • Verifies exams as ordered by physician.
  • Developing the knowledge to perform correct scan protocols in an effort to decrease radiation exposure to patients.
  • Developing knowledge of and adherence to all radiation safety recommendations, including patient shielding. ALARA
  • Developing knowledge to properly administer IV and oral contrast.
  • Developing ability to explain exams/procedures to patients and families.
  • Ensures that work area is properly maintained.
  • Developing knowledge of current or new and evolving technologies in CT.
  • Maintains equipment and requests service as needed.
  • Complies with all TJC, state, federal, and local regulatory laws, standards, and protocols.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
