Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology (required) or Associate Degree (preferred)
  • 1 year radiologic technologist experience without ARRT-CT (required) or No experience with ARRT-CT (required)
  • ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (R) (required)
  • ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (CT) (required)
  • ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (CT) (if 1 year radiology technician exp) within 12 Months (required)
  • CMRT - Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist Either by the TDH or TMB (required)
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care (required)

Responsibilities

  • Explaining procedures to patient or guardian/family member if applicable prior to and during exam
  • Imaging correct anatomical area of interest and pathology according to department protocols
  • Performing complex procedures including age related criteria and developmental considerations
  • Processing and manipulating images
  • Analyzing image quality
  • Troubleshooting, making technique adjustments or repeating procedures as needed
  • Correctly sending and transferring images to PACS
  • Assessing and recognizing the patient’s emotional, physical, developmental, cognitive and psychosocial conditions
  • Operating, caring for and maintaining equipment
  • Preparing room for examination (i.e. suction, oxygen, supplies)
  • Administering contrast media and other medications in accordance with medication administration guidelines
  • Maintaining equipment and room to sanitary standards between patients (injectors, table tops, floors)
