The CT Technologist performs and assumes responsibility for the safety of the patient during their CT examination. This includes reviewing patient medical history, ensuring the CT examination order is complete and medically necessary, and evaluating any contraindications. The technologist communicates with the patient, uses proper positioning and techniques for safety and comfort, and conducts clinical assessments. They apply independent judgment to capture accurate images, identify limitations, and review examination images. Patient privacy and confidentiality are maintained in accordance with HIPAA and facility policies. The role also involves assisting with the daily operation of the imaging department, educating students and residents, and transporting patients as needed. Staff members must demonstrate age-specific competency, understanding the needs of patients across the lifespan from Neonatal/Infant to Geriatric.
