About The Position

Under the supervision of the Senior CT Scan Technologist and department leadership, this position provides direct patient care services and other related functions in support of the department. The CT Technologist performs independently within the scope of department policies and clinically works at the direction of a qualified Radiologist. This role involves performing all CT scan examinations appropriate to the patient's age in inpatient and/or outpatient settings, gathering pertinent clinical data, maintaining accurate patient records, and completing all necessary paperwork and billings promptly. The technologist will also position and transfer patients, assist physicians with interventional exams, perform quality control on images, and send exams to PACS. Additionally, the role includes assisting with inventory, arranging the purchase of supplies, handling urgent exam requests and scheduling, and performing CT exams using contrast media under the direction of a Radiologist or Emergency Room Physician. Establishing IV access for contrast injection is also a responsibility. This position requires travel between Marlborough and Nashoba/Groton as scheduled to provide operational, administrative, or departmental support, with float requirements applying to newly hired staff at UMass Memorial Nashoba Valley.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited radiological program.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or NMTCB certified in diagnostic CT.
  • Licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide quality patient care with minimal supervision in a fast-paced setting, collaborating with peers to product optimum results.
  • Verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with patients and families.

Responsibilities

  • Properly performs all CT scan examinations appropriate to the age of the patient in inpatient and/or outpatient settings, consistent with departmental and professional standards and protocols.
  • Gathers pertinent clinical data and maintains accurate patient records.
  • Accurately completes all records, paperwork and billings and submits promptly.
  • Positions and transfers patients appropriately and assists physicians with interventional exams.
  • Promptly and properly completes exams, performs QC on images and appropriately sends exams to PACS for the physicians to review.
  • Assists in maintaining an orderly inventory and in arranging the purchase of needed supplies.
  • Assists with other job-related duties including urgent exam requests and scheduling.
  • Under the direction of a Radiologist or Emergency Room Physician, performs CT exams using contrast media according to department policy and procedures.
  • Will establish IV access for contrast injection according to department policy and procedure.
  • Travel between Marlborough and Nashoba/Groton as scheduled to provide operational, administrative, or departmental support.
  • Complies with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
  • Attends a variety of meetings, conferences, seminars as required or directed.
