About The Position

The CT Technologist uses computed tomography equipment to provide safe, effective, compassionate, and timely patient care. The role produces diagnostic CT scans to assist with patient diagnosis and treatment, ensures image quality and accurate patient and procedure information, and supports radiologists with procedures such as biopsies and drainage. The position is scheduled Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., on a days/evenings shift, and participates in an on-call rotation as required. It is eligible for a sign-on bonus.

Requirements

• Certification and registration with ARRT in Diagnostic Radiology.
• BLS Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required at hire for Roper St. Francis Healthcare locations; for BSMH it is preferred at hire and required before independent patient care.
• Demonstrated communication, interpersonal, computer literacy, patient-based care, calm demeanor, critical thinking, safety, attention to detail, escalation of concerns, teamwork, customer service, positive attitude, and ability to follow directions.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree from an ARRT-accredited institute.
• Advanced modality registration in CT through ARRT, or ability to obtain it within two years.
• State licensure, unless required by the state where the job is performed.
• One year of experience as a CT or radiologic technologist.
• Training or familiarity with EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Training or familiarity with picture archiving communication system (PACS).

Responsibilities

• Ensure image quality and confirm that all pertinent patient and procedure data is correct.
• Perform computed tomography procedures.
• Perform required timeouts according to policy.
• Position and immobilize patients appropriately on CT scanning cradles to obtain the desired position.
• Make radiation exposures by operating the scanner according to physician requests and patient history.
• Perform intravenous injections and demonstrate appropriate use and care of existing IVs.
• Administer oral, rectal, and intravenous radiographic contrast agents specific to procedures.
• Assist radiologists with biopsies, drainage procedures, and similar procedures using sterile techniques and safe, effective handling of contrast and radiation materials.
• Maintain working knowledge of CT information technology systems, including Radiant and PACS.
• Participate in the on-call rotation as required.
• Perform other job-related duties as required by the supervisor, subject to reasonable accommodation.
