The CT Technologist will competently operate CT equipment to perform basic and intermediate diagnostic procedures. This includes basic imaging processing, body, head, chest, abdomen, pelvis, contrast, orthopedic, and extremity imaging. The technologist will obtain medical history from patients, compare requisitions to physicians' orders for accuracy, and position patients appropriately. They will select and adjust scanning factors to attain optimal images, ensuring radiation protection and safety in accordance with regulatory agencies. The role involves preparing and administering contrast media under radiologist direction, assisting with scanning techniques, and providing measurements and additional slices for accurate interpretation. Post-processing of images, including accurate labeling with patient information and scan location, is also required. The technologist will maintain records, enter patient and study information into the radiology information system, and document billing codes. Identifying equipment performance issues, performing quality assurance tests, and reporting malfunctions are key responsibilities. The role also includes performing patient positioning and transporting duties, which may require lifting and pushing/pulling with proper technique. The technologist must demonstrate knowledge of age-specific care needs for patients served, including principles of growth and development across the life span.
