The CT Technologist is responsible for performing complex CT procedures, including age-related criteria and developmental considerations. They will explain procedures to patients, position them correctly, and adjust technique parameters as needed. The technologist will assist the radiologist with complex and invasive procedures using aseptic technique, maintain attention to detail, and process and manipulate images. They will also troubleshoot, make technique adjustments, and repeat procedures as necessary. Additionally, the CT Technologist will utilize proper downtime procedures for PACS and HIS/RIS, correctly send and transfer images, print laser images, and coordinate with Centralized Scheduling and other modalities. Patient care involves using multidisciplinary, team-oriented actions, assessing the patient's condition, preparing the room, checking physician orders, greeting patients, obtaining history, handling patients with various devices, monitoring patients, demonstrating knowledge of emergency drugs and equipment, using proper body mechanics, administering contrast media and other medications, processing patient information, and transporting patients. Equipment operation includes adjusting technical factors, operating and maintaining equipment, applying knowledge of physics and accessories, troubleshooting and documenting malfunctions, maintaining equipment and room sanitation, stocking supplies, exchanging and maintaining film badges, and demonstrating knowledge of quality control and regulatory standards. Professional accountability includes maintaining and enhancing technical skills, attending continuing education and meetings, identifying and initiating quality improvement, and managing time effectively.
