About The Position

The CT Technologist applies the art and skill of diagnostic imaging through the safe and effective use of CT scanning equipment in a way that provides direct patient care in a compassionate and timely manner. The CT Technologist assists in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by producing diagnostic CT scans. This role is located in Suffolk, VA, at Harbour View Medical Center, a community-based hospital that recently opened an inpatient wing in May 2025. The Imaging team utilizes advanced equipment for cardiovascular, orthopedic, and oncologic imaging, offering high-quality care. The position welcomes students, new graduates, and experienced technologists, with opportunities for cross-training to support career growth.

Requirements

BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (required)
Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) in Diagnostic Radiology (required)

Nice To Haves

Associate's degree from an ARRT accredited institute
Advanced modality registration in CT, ARRT (or must obtain within 1 year)
State Licensure (unless required by the state where the job is being performed)
1 year of experience as CT or Rad Tech
EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR)
Picture archiving communication system (PACS)

Responsibilities

Assures the quality of all images and confirms that all pertinent patient/procedural data is correct.
Performs computed tomography procedures.
Performs timeout as required per policy.
Properly positions patients on CT scanning cradles and properly immobilizes patients with appropriate devices to obtain desired position.
Makes radiation exposures by energizing scanner per physician request and patient history.
Performs intravenous injections and demonstrates a knowledge of use and care of existing IVs, administers oral, rectal, and IV radiographic contracts agents specific to procedures.
Assists the radiologist with biopsies, drainage procedures, etc. utilizing sterile techniques, exhibiting safe and effective use of all contrast and radiation materials.
Maintains a working knowledge of all CT IT systems, including Radiant and PACS.
Participates in on call rotation as required.
