About The Position

CT technologists will perform CT scans as ordered by a licensed provider to provide diagnostic images that will aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. They will also operate fluoroscopic C-arm in conjunction with speech language pathologists performing modified barium swallow studies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology Technology
  • One year of CT experience preferred
  • ARRT (CT)
  • Basic Life Support certification

Responsibilities

  • Operate radiology equipment to acquire optimal diagnostic images per established protocol while minimizing radiation exposure through adhering to the ALARA principle
  • Submit studies to radiologist for interpretation when indicated
  • Provide patient education regarding radiology examinations as well as risks and potential side effects of contrast administration
  • Perform quality assurance testing on equipment as outlined by the manufacturer and notify appropriate persons of any deficiencies impacting image quality
  • Archive images per facility protocol and burn CDs when requested for surgical cases or continuity of care
  • Manage radiology schedule by booking appointments as well as physician requested follow-up appointments
  • Verify insurance benefits for radiology procedures including expected out of pocket cost for internally performed exams and obtain prior authorization as required by health plans
  • Comply with OSHA and infection control standards to minimize employee and patient injury
  • Ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the position
  • The ability to work on-site
  • Proficient in CT scanner and fluoroscopic C-arm operation
  • Able to perform IV insertion and removal
  • Competently document in patient encounters in electronic medical record
  • CT technologists will perform an average of 10-15 exams per day.
  • They will be expected to obtain prior authorization in an expedited manner for patients scheduled the same day to minimize wait time.
  • They are also responsible for management of assigned work queues for scheduling radiology appointments and benefit collection.
  • These team members will use their knowledge to produce studies that are of high diagnostic yield for providers and/or radiologists to ensure optimal clinical outcomes.
