This position is part of the Barrow Emergency Stroke Treatment Unit (BESTU) team, focusing on immediate diagnosis and expert stroke care through mobile CT scanning to reduce death and long-term disability.

Requirements

  • Completion of approved American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or equivalent approved Radiologic Technologist Program.
  • Two years CT Tech experience.
  • Must hold and maintain AZ DHS Bureau of Special Licensing CRT: Certified Radiologic Technologist (CT CRT).
  • Must hold and maintain CTCT: Certified Technologist/Computed Tomography.
  • Must hold and maintain AZ Drivers License (DRV LIC).
  • Must hold and maintain national American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (CT ARRT).
  • Must hold and maintain American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CT CPRBLS).

Nice To Haves

  • Three years of CT experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform CT scanning and specialized work-ups in a mobile emergency room setting.
  • Perform CT scans based on current protocols (including Trauma/ER, Perfusions, and Routine Neuro).
  • Utilize ALARA radiation safety practices.
  • Accurately complete perfusions and reconstructions on the 3-D workstation.
  • Thoroughly document all required forms in Radnet and PACS.
  • Perform CT scans based on current protocols and/or radiologist recommendations (e.g., Trauma/ER, Perfusions, Routine Body, Routine Neuro, and Interventional Procedures).
  • Assist Interventional Radiologist by accurately scanning the area of interest requested by Radiologist (e.g., biopsies and drainages).
  • Ensure patient is ready for scan (e.g., confirms appropriate gauge IV needle, appropriate type/dose of contrast, and allergy status).
  • Accurately and thoroughly complete hospital/department specific forms per protocol (e.g., completes exams in Radnet, incident reports/extravasation forms, patient contrast information forms, side/site forms, and documents exam information in CT log).
  • Perform protocol management by evaluating and determining the area of interest and type of scan to be performed on the patient, consulting with a physician as necessary.
  • Encourage good working relationships and promote team effort within the department by communicating in a positive manner and motivating staff.
