Computed tomography (CT) technologists use computerized tomography (CT) scanners to produce cross-section images of patients’ internal organs and tissues for the diagnosis of medical issues. A CT scan technologist must be able to accurately interpret a physician’s scanning instructions, administer contrast materials, prepare and operate the CT scan equipment, and position the patient to capture the appropriate images. A PRN caregiver in this position works varying shifts.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT) and in good standing
  • Certification in Computed Tomography (CT) required within one year of hire: R.T.(R) (CT) (ARRT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and related pathologic processes
  • Current state licensure required prior to employment

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist
  • Experience working with adults and children

Responsibilities

  • Acquire patients chart data/requisition and reviews both to determine correct room set-up and learn of any specific medical problems, contraindications to the study and verify that the study being ordered correlates to the diagnostic needs.
  • Educate patients regarding procedure, equipment, and exam to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Maintain all aspects of the CT area including the technical and clerical components to ensure proper quality assurance results and any required documentation.
