About The Position

The CT Technologist performs diagnostic CT (computed tomography) scans including interventional radiology procedures on patients. Evaluates image quality and utilizes proper radiation safety practices. The schedule includes every Saturday and Sunday, plus one additional 8-hour work week shift, with work hours from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. There is no on-call requirement, but there is a holiday rotation. The role involves providing empathetic and compassionate care, demonstrating knowledge of equipment and safety practices, performing CT scans and interventional radiology/cardiology procedures, stocking supplies, cleaning rooms, providing instruction to students, accessing intravenous lines and administering contrast, completing documentation accurately, and applying critical thinking skills for patient triage and prioritization. Safety practices include adhering to ALARA principles, using mobilization and immobilization devices, safe patient handling, infection prevention, and hand hygiene.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited radiography program
  • American Registry Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Wisconsin license
  • Must be 18 years of age

Responsibilities

  • Provides professional, empathetic, and compassionate care to team members, patients, families, and significant others.
  • Greets patients and their families, assists patients with dressing/undressing, transports or ambulates patients, and assists patients with comfort needs.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of equipment and safety practices in the areas of CT department, interventional radiology, emergency department, inpatient, and outpatient services.
  • Exhibits competency and skills needed to perform CT scans including interventional radiology and cardiology procedures per protocol, and sets appropriate technical parameters to accurately demonstrate anatomy and pathology.
  • Completes department tasks such as stocking supplies, checking outdated supplies, performing safety audits or tracking, and cleaning rooms and equipment to remain compliant with requirements, regulations, and policies.
  • Provides practical instruction for students and other health care professionals.
  • Shows competency in intravenous access and administration of contrast in accordance with established protocols while using aseptic technique.
  • Completes documentation on time and accurately in accordance with department policy/procedure. This includes proper image management and accurate documentation in electronic medical record.
  • Applies critical thinking skills and ensures order accuracy when triaging and prioritizing patients.
  • Practices safety at all times, which includes adhering to ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) principles for proper radiation safety for self and patients, using mobilization and immobilization devices, following safe patient handling practices, following infection prevention practices (proper personal protective equipment), and following hand hygiene to comply with all government agencies or other regulatory bodies.
