About The Position

This role focuses on using various imaging techniques and practices to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. It involves performing CT Scan duties, utilizing CT Scan Technology to provide images of internal organs, bones, and soft tissue. This is a clinical technologist role requiring specialized knowledge or skills gained through vocational education, training, and experience, most commonly applied to patient care. It is an experienced level role requiring basic knowledge of job procedures and tools obtained through work experience and vocational or technical education. The role works under moderate supervision, handles routine problems, and may require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures. Communication involves conveying information that requires some explanation or interpretation.

Requirements

Associate degree in Radiology or related field.
Radiologic Technologist State License in Computed Tomography.
Radiologic Technologist Certification (ARRT).
CT Technologist Certification (ARRT) or (NMTCB).
Two (2) years of experience as a CT Technologist.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Clerical skills.
Knowledge of scanners, Med Rad inj., PACs, VRC, Powerscribe.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the CT Supervisor and the Radiologist, performs CT procedures that follow radiological standards in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
Performs a variety of CT procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative.
Assumes responsibility for designated areas and/or procedures as required.
Maintains and monitors department supplies.
Continuously strives to develop/improve relationships with all customers.
Actively participates in department quality improvement/assurance.
Follows hospital protocol for exam routines and produces quality studies in an efficient, timely manner.
Operates all equipment in the department or requests training in specific areas.
Properly warms up CT scanner and runs QA, brings up pressure injector, PACs units and Meditech.
Completes CT procedure and tasks in an effective and efficient manner, including providing appropriate feedback to patient and cleaning the room.
Adjusts and manipulates images to required specifications, such as windowing, contrast, algo, separating exams by accession, and creating reformatted images.
Selects proper scanning levels depending upon field of scan and organ selected.
Ensures that all scans are properly identified anatomically and all appropriate information is in place.
Completes the administrative part of the procedure, including tech edit, escorting patients, and cleaning/preparing the room.
Notifies the Coordinator or delegate of any/all equipment malfunctions.
Reports “wet reading” findings to physicians, Emergency Department, Nursing Units, etc.
Restores (requests) prior exams for radiologist and VRC if necessary.
Burns CD for patient or ER if requested.
Stocks rooms and requests stock to be ordered when necessary.
Tidies control rooms and keeps all work areas clean and functional.
Performs clerical and other duties as necessary to maintain flow and quality expectations.
Interacts well with staff members, other departments, and physicians.
Assures that the patient’s expectations of quality service are exceeded.
Identifies patients by asking name and checking arm band per established procedure.
Educates each patient in a professional manner, including what the patient should expect and the timeliness of the exam.
Takes the initiative to meet customer’s needs and solve customer’s problems or finds someone who can.
