About The Position

The CT/XRAY Technologist assists with providing safe, age-appropriate care to the patient by performing all CT exams provided by the department according to department procedures with the knowledge and ability to obtain a quality diagnostic study properly and safely. Responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgement, ingenuity, and initiative in the utilization of Computed Tomography equipment for the diagnosis and/or treatment of disease. The technologist is able to independently perform job functions. Sets up the equipment to provide imaging service and positions patient for the procedure.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology
Reads, Speaks, understands, and writes proficiently in English.
Effectively communicates orally and in writing.
Ability to represent the organization effectively and professionally.
Works independently and is self-directed.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Organizes, priorities, and coordinates multiple activities and tasks.
Applies skills in employee relations.

Proficiency in PACS and EMR systems.

Ability to establish and maintain relationships with employees, elected and other government officials, members of neighborhood organizations, social and medical professionals, and the general public.

Responsibilities

Operation and responsibility for CT equipment and other medical equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic scans.
Delivers compassionate care while utilizing radiation protection to the patient under the guidelines of ALARA.
Demonstrates an adequate knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology.
Communicates patient needs and responses through appropriate verbal and written correspondence.
Prepares patients having CT procedures with proper positioning.
Provides safe and effective IV contrast administration as directed and per protocol.
Loads and operates power injector for contrast media administration.
Ensures documentation is complete and accurate regarding all aspects of patient care.
Ensures that patients have been prepared for procedures.
Assists Radiologists in developing new protocols and CT Imaging techniques.
Communicates clinical observations during CT scan examination to the Radiologist.
Monitors equipment and aids in coordination of repairs.
Maintains accurate patient records.
Maintains Quality Assurance program for ACR.
Competency with PACS and EMR systems.
Assists with performing and planning multiple diagnostic procedures in appropriate time sequence.
Assists colleagues in recognizing, interpreting, and managing unstable patient care situations.
Functions independently with little guidance from supervisor needed.
Provides training to new technologists with regular checks, direction, and qualified work examples performed by an experienced team member.
Performs other related duties as required.
