About The Position

The CT Technologist performs computed tomography examinations to produce images of various anatomical parts and systems for diagnostic purposes as directed by the radiologist. This role involves collecting pertinent patient data, ensuring proper screening protocols, administering contrast agents, operating and maintaining CT equipment, and documenting patient care and exam details. Requirements

Completion of a (JRCERT) accredited Radiologic Technology program recognized by ARRT.
Current Registry with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program.
Act 34-PA Criminal Record Check from the PA State Police system.
Act 33 with renewal.
Act 73 FBI.
Strong leadership ability.
Good organizational skills.
Independent and critical thinking skills.
Sound judgment.
Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.

Nice To Haves

Six (6) months experience as a Radiologic Technologist.

Responsibilities

Collects pertinent data about the patient and procedure.
Reconfirms patient identification and verifies physician's order.
Assures proper screening protocol is completed prior to patient entering the scan room.
Verifies patient's pregnancy status when appropriate.
Provides information to the patient about the procedure, verifies consent, and answers questions.
Analyzes information during the assessment phase and determines optimal imaging parameters per diagnosis.
Determines whether the patient has been appropriately prepared for the procedure and assesses contraindications.
Selects appropriate shielding and immobilization devices.
Reviews patient's chart/physician order to determine optimal scanning parameters for suspected pathology.
Administers contrast agents according to established guidelines, obtaining written consent and evaluating lab values.
Determines appropriate type and dose of contrast agent to be administered.
Completes oral contrast screening form when needed.
Monitors patient during exam for adverse reaction to contrast media.
Using sterile techniques, preps site and starts IV when applicable.
Obtains optimum images during scan and reformats images as needed.
Sends images to PACS for interpretation by radiologist and archives images as needed.
Documents information about patient care, exam, and patient history in the appropriate record.
Verifies correct order is entered into RIS and documents appropriate patient history into PACS system.
Documents any exceptions from established guidelines and scans appropriate documents into PACS system.
Completes medication reconciliation documentation per department policy.
Facilitates correspondence with all departments to ensure procedures are done in a timely manner.
Works with Centralized Scheduling, nursing units, and ER to accommodate STAT or ASAP orders.
Responds to emergency calls per department procedures.
Maintains equipment workstation in optimum condition.
Performs daily QC on CT equipment.
Assures adequate patient care and office supplies are maintained.
Reports equipment malfunction to service provider.
Implements downtime procedures when necessary and coordinates rescheduling of patients during equipment downtime.
Initiates established downtime procedures during HIS/RIS and PACS downtime.
Performs daily glucometer QC and procedure on patients, maintaining annual competency.
Other duties as assigned.
