About The Position

The CT Technologist performs CT imaging procedures, operates equipment, and ensures high-quality diagnostic imaging. The CT Technologist Performs a variety of technical procedures to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis of patients of all ages. Applies knowledge of growth and development to appropriately care for all patients served. Operates highly specialized, technical equipment to obtain quality images. Performs IV contrast injections and other skills as required. Processes patients, which may include scheduling, registration, file management and computer processing skills. Complies with all Carilion Clinic and Imaging policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines. Participates in the training of students and staff as assigned. Maintains ARRT registry. Enhances personal and professional growth through participation in educational opportunities.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • None (experience).
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • AHA BLS-HCP required.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of computed tomography procedures, cross-sectional anatomy, radiation safety principles, and contrast media administration.
  • Ability to operate CT equipment and produce high-quality diagnostic images while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Strong critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with patients of all ages and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Must be detail-oriented, able to prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment, and committed to maintaining patient confidentiality and professional standards.
