The CT Technologist will competently operate CT equipment to perform basic and intermediate diagnostic procedures. This includes basic imaging processing, body, head, chest, abdomen, pelvis, contrast, orthopedic, and extremity imaging. The role involves obtaining medical history from patients, comparing requisitions to physicians' orders for accuracy, positioning patients, and selecting appropriate scanning factors. The technologist will also prepare and administer contrast media under the direction of a Radiologist, provide measurements and additional slices for accurate interpretation, and post-process images. Responsibilities include maintaining records, entering patient and study information into the radiology information system, documenting billing codes, identifying equipment performance issues, performing quality assurance tests, and reporting malfunctioning equipment. The role also involves patient positioning and transporting duties, which may require lifting and pushing/pulling with proper technique. The technologist must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served, understanding principles of growth and development over the life span and assessing patient status based on age-specific needs.
