About The Position

The CT Technologist is responsible for the delivery of quality imaging services to patients (geriatrics, adults, and adolescents) of the Shepherd Center. This multi-faceted role is instrumental to the success of the imaging department and provides important information to physicians and providers for the establishment of optimal patient care. The Technologist combines clinical applications with that of anatomy and physiology education to deliver successful clinical operations and patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology (or equivalent) program.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
  • Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure optimal quality of ordered images while maintaining patient safety.
  • Schedules patients and prioritizes exams based on clinical needs.
  • Reviews and verifies orders before beginning exams.
  • Reviews the patient’s EMR for safety concerns that could alter the quality of the exam or affect patient care.
  • Prepares patient and room for exams, explains procedure, transfers patient using proper lifting and transfer techniques, positions patient and assists patient as needed during the exam.
  • Performs clinical evaluation of all patients and performs exams specifically as stated in the physician’s order.
  • Observes patient and equipment during procedures and reports any unusual occurrences in relation to patient condition to the Imaging Supervisor.
  • Delivers all images to PACS and the Radiologist and ensures receipt of exam dictation.
  • Completes all daily tasks for optimal departmental operation.
  • Reports departmental concerns to the Imaging Manager.
  • Attend department staff meetings during scheduled hours.
  • Manages inventory of supplies.
  • Maintains all center-wide requirements such as yearly ARW’s, BLS, up to date certification status with the ACR and other requirements that may be mandatory in the XRAY and CT departments.
  • Provide support to Managers and Lead Techs to ensure exams are completed in compliance with ACR criteria.
