About The Position

The CT Technologist applies roentgen rays safely to patients for diagnostic purposes at the request of a physician. The role is part of Island Health’s Diagnostic Imaging team and supports a positive care experience for patients and colleagues. The position is onsite in Anacortes, Washington, and is part-time on the evening shift.

Requirements

High school graduation or equivalent.
Satisfactory completion of formal radiological technology training at an AMA-approved school.
Meet the requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) or its equivalent and maintain continuing education requirements.
Washington State certification.
Current Basic Life Support certification.
Ability to adjust system parameters to produce the best-quality images while minimizing radiation exposure to patients.

Responsibilities

Recognize principles of growth and development across the life span and identify patients’ age-specific needs.
Position patients to produce radiographs as prescribed by a qualified physician.
Provide immobilization devices as required.
Adjust equipment controls and system parameters to produce prescribed, high-quality radiographs while minimizing patient radiation exposure.
Administer drugs or chemical mixtures orally or as enemas to render organs opaque.
Provide radiation protection as needed for each examination.
Process films digitally.
Apply Continuous Quality Improvement principles and support the hospital’s performance-improvement philosophy.
Participate on Quality Action Teams using the F.A.D.E. process.
Interact positively with administration, directors, managers, supervisors, peers, coworkers, subordinates, patients, and visitors.
