About The Position

The CT Technologist operates computed tomography equipment, prepares patients for examinations, and ensures that appropriate information is available for the physician to make a diagnosis. The role also maintains required documentation and performs related duties as required. The technologist prepares and positions patients, explains procedures, obtains required consent for IV contrast, and screens for pregnancy. They perform a range of CT procedures, adjust imaging parameters and equipment, and use radiation-reduction devices when appropriate. In collaboration with a Radiologist, the technologist may extend parameters within established imaging protocols and transmits cases to an on-call Radiologist through a Tele-Radiology system. The role includes administering IV and oral contrast as ordered, performing venipuncture, explaining IV contrast administration, documenting information on the IV Contrast Information Sheet, and using existing IV lines and power injectors as appropriate. The technologist must recognize and assist with treatment of contrast reactions and IV extravasations. Responsibilities listed are considered essential functions under the Americans with Disabilities Act; related duties not listed are not considered essential functions.
