Located in the Phoenix, Ariz., suburb of Chandler, the Chandler Regional Medical Center is a 429-bed, not-for-profit hospital with more than 2,600 team members and almost 1,000 doctors on staff representing all major specialties. Chandler Regional joined the Dignity Health system in 1999, but has been part of the community for more than 50 years. The hospital includes a Level I Trauma Center, a Heart and Vascular Center, a Wound Healing Center, a Family Birth Center and many additional services. Dignity Health Chandler Regional, Mercy Gilbert, and Arizona General Hospital Mesa awarded $422,000 in grants to support five community projects led by 15 local organizations. Since 1991, Dignity Health's Community Health Improvement Grants program has provided $91 million to nearly 3,800 health projects, focusing on vulnerable and underserved populations. The technologist will provide excellent service to the patients of the CT Scan department, the physicians, fellow employees and hospital staff. This role involves performing CT scans based on current protocols and/or radiologist recommendations, including Trauma/ER, Perfusions, Routine Body, Routine Neuro, and Interventional Procedures. The technologist will also assist Interventional Radiologists during CT guidance procedures, accurately and proficiently perform work-ups such as perfusions and reconstructions, and manage protocols by evaluating and determining the area of interest and type of scan to be performed, consulting physicians as necessary. The position also includes acting as a resource and role model for Students, Externs, and new staff members, assisting Lead and Senior technologists with operations and patient workflow, and completing other assigned duties. A thorough knowledge of cross sectional anatomy and positioning as it relates to CT scan procedures is required. The technologist must display competency operating equipment, performing procedures, using the teleradiology system, and functioning as a radiologic technologist when requested. Utilizing good radiation safety practices for patients, self, and others, ensuring badges are worn, and practicing good sterile technique and universal precautions are also key. Knowledge of various drugs and contrast media, and competency in injecting contrast media if required, are important. Additional duties include compiling data and documentation for reports, establishing and maintaining films/files, databases, coding practices, and records, and providing written documentation on exam worksheets. Active participation in committees or collaborative teams and the ability to effectively work with various end users to provide information and training are also expected.
