Operates computed tomography (CT) scanner to produce cross-sectional radiographs of patient's body for diagnostic purposes. This role requires the technologist to perform various duties including patient identification, administering contrast media, operating the CT scanner console, positioning patients, selecting appropriate CT protocols, communicating with patients, monitoring patient safety, reviewing images, using diagnostic equipment like the iStat blood analyzer, and being knowledgeable about emergency procedures and equipment. The technologist must also be proficient in using PACS, RIS, and management systems, burning CDs, and assisting other departments when possible. Maintaining certifications and continuing education is crucial, along with adhering to ARRT and State of Michigan guidelines, RMI S.O.P., and company policies.
